Kidnap experts join Ga. hunt for missing girl (AP)

CANTON, Ga. ? A team of state officers trained to look for abducted and missing children has joined the hunt for a 7-year-old girl who vanished last week in north Georgia.

Authorities say they believe Jorelys Rivera was abducted. She was last seen Friday near a playground at her apartment complex in Canton, north of Atlanta.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead told The Associated Press on Monday that the special abduction team is made up of dozens of law officers from the bureau, the Georgia State Patrol and other state agencies.

Searchers were combing nearby apartment buildings and surrounding woods. Bankhead said officers were also checking with sex offenders in the area and may widen those checks to a larger area as the investigation continues.
