Any GOP Candidate Has a Chance, Say Iowa Voters (ContributorNetwork)

The Iowa GOP caucus is fast approaching with many Republican's still unsure of their choice. Many conversations are peppered with the pros and cons of each candidate. Below are what several Iowa Republicans told me this week; their thoughts show the diversity of allegiance.

"Herman Cain was my choice up until the last few days. The revelation that he may have been in an affair with a woman for 13 years has really deflated my opinion of him as a person. Stating he will make a decision on whether he will continue to run for presidential election after he speaks with his wife tells me there is a foundation to the allegation. I'm not sure who I will vote for now." -- Bernie McElroy, factory worker, Waterloo

"As a registered Republican, I am finding it hard to decipher which candidate's platform I truly believe fits my beliefs. I definitely believe religion shouldn't be part of any presidential election. The tea party has definitely placed emphasis on religion. I thought there was a separation of church and state. So, my preference for a GOP candidate is not set yet." -- Jenny Schaffer, nurse, Des Moines

"I have looked at all the candidates and feel Michele Bachmann is the candidate that has my vote. She is a woman with a strong will and the right determination to bring the United States out of this economic slump. Her fortitude as a Republican candidate shows the backbone women have in today's workforce." -- Mavis Stephens, housewife, Dubuque

"I jumped on the Mitt Romney bandwagon as soon as he announced his candidacy. His strong presence and charisma, coupled with his world and political knowledge, depicts a man that is sincere in his viewpoint as a presidential candidate. Life under the supervision of Romney will bring the economy around and put the United States back on the world map." -- Herman Nichols, farmer, Storm Lake

"I have looked at each Republican candidate and do not feel any of them deserve to be running for the GOP nomination. Not one candidate is strong. If I would have to pick one, I would pick Mitt Romney, but I am not comfortable with the choice. It may come down to my flipping and actually voting for President Obama because I just don't feel there is a strong Republican candidate." -- Jordan Jenkins, nurse, Waterloo

"Rick Perry is my choice for GOP presidential candidate. I like what he has to say about being for the people and the fact that he has helped to turn Texas around. I feel if he is elected president, he will turn the United States around to be a profitable, first-class country. This would be a good thing for everyone." -- Bruce Baker, business owner, Council Bluffs

"Of the candidates for the Republican nomination in January, I feel Newt Gingrich is the forerunner. His experience in the political arena helps him to understand the workings of the United States government. His time in Washington is definitely a plus. This puts him ahead of the other candidates bidding for the office. I do worry about his flip-flopping on issues. I hope that he is ready to stand firm on his beliefs." -- Taylor Clemons, construction worker, Iowa City

"Ron Paul has run for president on several occasions. I feel it's time that we give him a chance. He has his head on his shoulders and presents a strong presence." -- Lee Kramer, educator, Cedar Falls

"The former governor of Utah, Jon Huntsman, is my choice for GOP presidential nomination. Although he is not running high in [polls], I feel he has good moral and ethical values along with the knowledge base to be commander and chief of the United States government." -- Tillie Heiken, retired, Storm Lake
