It?s that time of year! The Line Campaign is currently seeking a Social Media & Blog Editor, as well as an intern specifically to support Nancy?s work with Girl Model. Check out the descriptions below the jump, and please forward widely!

The Line
In the age of consent, how can we make safer, healthier communities?
The Line is a cutting edge short documentary film that explores sexual consent. The film has played at hundreds of college campuses and film festivals, and is distributed by the Media Education Foundation. It is connected to a large group of activists including: Planned Parenthood, AAUW, Men Can Stop Rape, SAFER, United Nations and more.

The Line Campaign
The Line Campaign is a 501c3 Non-profit focusing on empowering young leaders to end sexual violence. With educational and interactive programming that fosters dialogue about sexual boundaries and consent, and empowers young men and women to discuss complex scenarios about healthy relationships and sex.

Overview
THE LINE is looking for a talented and motivated editor with writing and social media experience to work in close partnership with filmmaker and activist Nancy Schwartzman to learn how to make a film make change. This editor will be a key player in The Line?s transmedia outreach campaign. Responsibilities include:

  • Research, interview and post weekly ?Badass Feminist Interview? (see examples here)
  • Managing @thelinecampaign Twitter account (4300 active followers interested in feminism, politics, gender based violence issues and international feminisms)
  • Suggesting new social media accounts/campaigns as necessary
  • Some outreach and database cleanup
  • Other administrative duties as necessary

Time Commitment
10 hours/week, starting ASAP. A year-long commitment strongly preferred.

Compensation
Small stipend available, plus academic credit if applicable. Access to networking events, working activists and community organizers, and other opportunities including a career development workshop and a letter of reference from filmmaker/activist.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm and passion for sexual education and violence prevention for college students and teenagers
  • Clear, engaging and articulate writing style
  • Commitment to human rights, gender equality and creating independent female voices in the media
  • Interest in social media and online engagement, public interest advocacy/campaigns, and film
  • Attention to details and deadlines
  • Strong computer skills
    • Microsoft office ? Word, Excel
    • Internet research skills
    • Social networking sites ? facebook, myspace, twitter, tumblr, wordpress, etc.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Fashion-Savvy, Social Justice Oriented Film and Research Internship Available for FALL 2012 and WINTER 2013

About Our Work:

Girl Model
Girl Model is a critically acclaimed new documentary by filmmakers Ashley Sabin and David Redmon (of ?Mardi Gras Made in China? fame) that explores the experiences and treatment of girls as young as 12 and 13 in the modeling industry. The outreach team is seeking a talented, motivated, industry-savvy intern to help research and implement a social media and outreach campaign for the film. Some partners include the Model Alliance of NY, The Fordham Fashion Law Institute, Models Equity UK and the Sundance Documentary Fund.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Database research and management
  • Social media and technology
  • Fundraising research
  • Communications and marketing
  • Administrative duties
  • Researching corporate sponsors
  • University partnerships
  • Webinar curricula support
  • Tracking press hits for multiple projects

Time Commitment
15 hours/week

Start Date: ASAP
End Date: December 20, 2012 (or later)

Compensation
Unpaid. Academic credit if applicable, plus access to networking events, working activists and community organizers, high-profile screenings at SoHo House and other fashion and industry screenings and networking events, as well as a career development workshop and a letter of reference from filmmaker/activist.

Qualifications

  • Must have interest in fashion, advertising and how it relates to media literacy and critique
  • Enthusiasm and passion for labor rights, issues effecting girls and violence prevention
  • Interest in social media and online engagement, public interest advocacy/campaigns, and film
  • Strong computer skills
    • Microsoft office ? Word, Excel, etc.?this position involves many spreadsheets
    • Email lists
    • Internet research skills
    • Social networking sites ? Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest, Tumblr, WordPress, etc.
    • Comfort/familiarity with Google Docs
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Passion for and knowledge of the fashion industry, including names/ages of popular & prominent print and runway models
